TRANSLATION

For translation or interpretation services, including conference interpreting, feel free to email me from the Contact page. Please note that my availability is limited and I do not translate from English into French.

A few things to know if you’re looking for a translator

Most professional translators work in one direction only: they translate from another language into their first or strongest language.

The term translation implies that the work is written, whereas interpretation involves spoken communication.

Simultaneous interpretation is the kind that often takes place during conferences: someone gives a speech in language A, and the interpreter issues the same speech in language B at the same time. Usually, the interpreter is working in a booth, and conference participants hear the interpretation through their headsets.

With consecutive interpretation, the interpreter speaks after the primary speaker, rather than at the same time. This strategy is often used in discussions, question and answer sessions, interviews, and a variety of other situations.

Testimonials

Dr. Wilkshire was my editor for the report of the Offshore Helicopter Safety Inquiry, which concluded in 2011. Her work included the editing of a large number of expert reports for publication.

Secondly, she was involved for me in the translation of the complete set of volumes from English to French.

I engaged her services again 2012 for the translation of a large number of documents from French into English for my use in a major project.

In all cases, Dr. Wilkshire’s work was accurate and completed in a timely manner.

I have no hesitation in recommending her to any persons or organizations requiring editing and or translation services.

Honourable Robert Wells, QC

We were extremely happy with the work you did. Your attention to detail was noted and this is something that we prize very highly! We were very pleased not only with your translation, but with the potential issues and areas of note that you flagged.
