Professional development
I participate regularly in the conferences offered by Editors Canada and the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (UK).
I was a founding member and co-coordinator of Editors NL (now Editors Atlantic), the provincial section of Editors Canada, which involved organizing, attending, and sometimes presenting professional development activities.
I have taken Ryerson University’s copy editing (CDP102) and substantive and stylistic editing (CPD202) courses.
I attended the Translate in Quebec City international conference in August 2013.

Professional statement
Language is something I’ve always been passionate about. I like the challenge of taking writing that is unclear or overly specialized and untangling the words so they become accessible to a wider audience. I enjoy my work because I learn so much: the texts I work with are enormously varied. I work very hard to ensure that the documents I write, edit, and translate meet my own personal standards of quality.
